The Returners

Remakes & Arrangements

Seeing as the music of Final Fantasy VI is absolutely gorgeous, it's been remade and arranged in several ways. :D There are piano versions, orchestral versions, and even a few rock versions. I'll start out by telling you about the albums completely derived from FFVI's music, then about individual tracks from different albums.

Final Fantasy VI Grand Finale

First released on 25 May 1994, Final Fantasy VI Grand Finale is a collection of tracks from the game performed by the Milan Symphony Orchestra. The original names (from the iTunes listing) are given.

  1. Opening Theme ~ Tina
  2. Cefca
  3. The Mystic Forest
  4. Gau
  5. Milan de Chocobo
  6. Troops March On
  7. Kids Run Through the City Corner
  8. Blackjack
  9. Relm
  10. Mistery Train
  11. Aria di Mezzo Carattere

Milan de Chocobo is FFVI's Chocobo theme; I guess it's renamed because the Milan Symphony Orchestra did this version of it. Or something. The Italian vocals for Aria di Mezzo Carattere are by Svetla Krasteva.

Final Fantasy VI Piano Collectoins

First released on 25 June 1994, Final Fantasy VI Piano Collections is a gorgeous collection of some of the best FFVI songs played on the piano. For some absolutely bizarre reason, this album is not on the iTunes store, which makes me sad.

  1. Tina
  2. Gau
  3. Cefca
  4. Spinach Rag
  5. Stragus
  6. The Mystic Forest
  7. Kids Run Through The City Corner
  8. Johnny C. Bad
  9. Mystery Train
  10. The Decisive Battle
  11. Coin Song
  12. Celes
  13. Waltz de Chocobo

Final Fantasy VI Special Tracks

Released on 25 April 1994, this was a promotional album for the game. I listened to it once and was completely weirded out, so I deleted the files XD I believe it was techno-ish. o_o;

  1. Approaching Sentiment
  2. Town 2
  3. Town 3
  4. Troian Beauty
  5. Techno de Chocobo
  6. Approaching Sentiment (no vocals)

Final Fantasy VI Stars Vol. 1 and Vol. 2

The two Stars albums, released on 21 January 1994 as promotional albums, were entirely composed of the characters' theme songs. They are identical to the tracks on the OST itself.

    Vol. 1:
  1. Tina
  2. Edgar and Mash
  3. Stragus
  4. Gau
  5. Cayenne (Cyan)
    Vol 2:
  1. Locke
  2. Celes
  3. Shadow
  4. Relm
  5. Setzer

Music from Final Fantasy Anthology

  5. Nostalgia
  6. Mambo de Chocobo
  7. My Home, Sweet Home
  8. Music Box
  9. Dear Friends
  10. The Mystic Forest
  11. Mystery Train
  12. Wild West
  13. Kids Run Through the City Corner
  14. Tina
  15. Slam Shuffle
  16. Spinach Rag
  17. Johnny C. Bad
  18. Mog
  19. Dark World
  20. Epitaph
  21. The Magic House
  22. The Prelude

The rest of this page will list the various tracks remade on Final Fantasy albums, listed alphabetically by album title.

20020220 (Music from FINAL FANTASY)

The sixth track is Terra's theme and is an orchestral version. As a side note, you should so totally buy this album, because it's amazing.

The Black Mages

The Black Mages are Nobuo Uematsu's band of awesomeness. Basically, it's a rock band that does rock version of FF music. Their self-titled first album features three songs from FFVI. Track 5 is The Decisive Battle, track 6 is the FFVI battle theme, and track 9 is a glorious twelve-minute rock version of Dancing Mad.

Final Fantasy Mix

I haven't actually heard this album, so I'm going by this tracklist. There, it says that the first song is a remix of Terra's theme. I don't think any of the other songs are from FFVI, unless one of those "unreleased tracks" is. *shrugs*

Final Fantasy N Generation Official Best Collection

This album just has a collection of tracks from other albums; all of the songs are from Final Fantasy I through VI (the "N Generation" refers to the fact that all of those games were on Nintendo consoles). According to this list, track 12 is the Grand Finale version of Aria di Mezzo Carattere (though it may be remixed?).

Final Fantasy Vocal Collection I -Pray-

This gorgeous album can be summarized as "Final Fantasy music with lyrics." There are two songs from FFVI on this album: Wanderer of Time (Terra's theme) and Não Chora Menina (Kids Run Through the City Corner).

Final Fantasy Vocal Collection II [Love Will Grow]

There's only one song from this album, and it's God's Cradle, a vocal version of Relm's theme.

More Friends - Music from Final Fantasy ~Los Angeles Live 2005~

The fifth track is Terra's theme, again orchestra. Track 12 is called Opera "Maria & Draco" and is an English version of the famous opera sequence. (Listening to it after having heard the Japanese version of the opera was absolutely hilarious XD)

Music Inspired by Final Fantasy

Apparently this is a fan-arranged album. The first three tracks are from FFVI and are arrangements of the opening theme, Terra's theme, and the Floating Continent's music. (Information from here.)

Potion: Relaxin' With Final Fantasy

Just like the N Generation album, this is just a collection of tracks. The idea behind the Potion albums is that they're soothing, calming pieces (which is why they're called Potion - a healing item). This tracklist gives track 1 as Terra's theme (piano version) and track 2 as the piano version of Kids Run Through the City Corner.

Potion 2: Relaxin' With Final Fantasy

This is the second Potion album and is the same as the first in its premise. The FFVI tracks are (again, from this list) the fifth track, Não Chora Menina and the tenth track, Celes's theme from the Piano Collections.

Tour de Japon - Music from Final Fantasy

This was a seven-concert series in Japan featuring Final Fantasy music. Only one track from FFVI was included, but it's by far the most notable: it's the Japanese version of Opera "Maria and Draco," which is over twenty minutes long.
